Why do we garden?
Our two-acre garden – home to vegetables, flowers, and other beneficial plants – attracts important pollinators, supplies fresh produce for our animals, and raises critical funds for the sanctuary.
Our garden, which typically opens in July, is free to visit. If you’d like to support the sanctuary financially, you can:
- Purchase a summer garden subscription. Limited quantities available. Learn more about our packages below. We typically sell these the first week of spring and they go quickly. Be sure to follow our Facebook page so you don’t miss when they go live.
- Enjoy our you-pick experience. Once flowers are in bloom, which is typically July through early October, we ask for a $15 donation (via our ‘Donate’ page or sent via Venmo to @friendsinneed) in exchange for every small bouquet (~12 stems) or $20 for every large bouquet (~20 stems) you cut. Though we sometimes have donated jars and vases on-site, we strongly encourage you to bring your own container. Enjoy our cosmos, dahlias, sunflowers, amaranth, zinnias, gladiolus, and more.
- Buy our produce. We sell our surplus produce at farmers markets and on-site by appointment, depending on availability.
- Book a photo shoot. For $20, you can bring a photographer on site and take photos for an hour. Or, if you are a photographer, it will allow you to bring your own clients on site! We do not provide the photographer, and we do not guarantee exclusive use of the space – it’s certainly large enough to share. The garden is most stunning August through September.
Garden subscriptions

Sales for our 2024 garden subscriptions are now live until sold out. We typically see veggies and flowers from mid-July through the end of September (roughly 12 weeks). It’s too early to know if we’ll get an extended season, but we were happily harvesting into October last year!
All subscriptions include:
- Access to a private Facebook group for subscription members where we will share what’s fresh each week and answer any questions.
- Videos that will show you how to harvest.
- Warm fuzzies that come with supporting our animals!
A: You-pick veggies and flowers combo ($125)
- Small container’s worth (think: shoe box) of in-season veggies, each week. Because of the seasonality of produce, some weeks may naturally have more variety than others. We’re growing heirloom tomatoes (27 varieties), zucchini, squash, cucumbers, blue potatoes, basil, mint, chives, eggplant, okra and more!
- One small you-pick bouquet (~12 stems), each week. These are normally priced at $15/each.
- Bring your own containers!
B: You-pick flowers only – Individual ($125)
- One large you-pick bouquet (~20 stems), each week. These are normally priced at $20/each. For a ~12 week season, a large weekly bouquet would normally cost $240.

C: You-pick flowers only – Family ($225)
Bring your family to pick with you, or share the flowers as gifts with friends and neighbors.
- Two large you-pick bouquets (~20 stems), each week. These are normally priced at $20/each. For a ~12 week season, two large weekly bouquets would normally cost $480.
- OR three small you-pick bouquets (~12 stems), each week. These are normally priced at $15/each. For a ~12 week season, three small weekly bouquets would normally cost $540.
- Bring your own container!
D: Picked-for-you flowers only ($200)
- One large you-pick bouquet (~20 stems), each week. These are normally priced for you-pick at $20/each. For a ~12 week season, a large weekly bouquet would normally cost $240… and that’s if you had to pick it yourself!
- Bouquets will be made on Monday mornings and pickup will be Monday afternoons/evenings. If you can’t pick your flowers up on Mondays, find someone who can!
- Containers will vary based on supplies available – jars, vases, etc.

Gift certificates are a special way to share the beauty of our flower farm with those you love. Quantities at these discounted prices are limited.
You-pick gift certificates SMALL BOUQUET ($10/each)
- Each certificate is good for a small you-pick bouquet (~12 stems). These are normally priced at $15/each.
- We will send you a ‘certificate’ via email that you can share with the recipient.
- These make wonderful gifts!
You-pick gift certificates LARGE BOUQUET ($15/each)
- Each certificate is good for a large you-pick bouquet (~20 stems). These are normally priced at $20/each.
- We will send you a ‘certificate’ via email that you can share with the recipient.

Photography punch passes ($100)
- Receive 10 hours of shooting time in the garden. These hours are normally priced at $20 each, so this is a 50% savings!
- Please note that this offering does NOT include a photographer – just your right to shoot in the garden.
